Welcome to Goddard Toastmasters! This guide will help you complete the membership application process. Our club follows Toastmasters International guidelines and has specific procedures for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center employees.

Who Can Join?

Goddard Toastmasters is open to all Goddard employees (civil servants and contractors) who want to improve their communication and leadership skills. Any current club member can sponsor a new member.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Download the Membership Application Form

Download the official Toastmasters International Membership Application Form:

Step 2: Complete the Application Form

Fill out all required sections:

  1. Personal Information
    • Full name, address, phone number, and email address
    • Your email will be used as your login for the Toastmasters International website
    • Ensure all information is accurate and current
  2. Club Information (pre-filled for Goddard Toastmasters)
    • Club Number: 3496
    • Club Name: Goddard Toastmasters
    • Area: 42
    • Division: D
    • District: 36
  3. Sponsor Information
    • Any current club member can sponsor you
    • If you don’t have a sponsor, contact our VP Membership
    • Sponsor’s member number can be found on their Toastmasters magazine mailing label or in Club Central at www.toastmasters.org
  4. Signature
    • Sign and date the form
    • A club officer will also sign the form

  • In person at a club meeting
  • Via email to the VP Membership or Treasurer
  • By contacting any club officer to arrange submission

Payment Information

Current Fees (2025)

Toastmasters International Fees:

  • New Member Fee: $25.00 (one-time fee, paid only when you first join)
  • Semiannual Dues: $60.00 per six-month period ($120.00 per year)
    • Dues are prorated based on when you join

Goddard Toastmasters Club Dues:

  • Annual Club Dues: $6.00 per year
  • Payable to “Goddard Toastmasters”

Payment Schedule

Toastmasters International uses a semiannual billing cycle:

  • October 1 - March 31: Dues collected by September 30
  • April 1 - September 30: Dues collected by March 31

Our club collects annual dues (club + TI) by September 30 for the period October 1 through September 30 of the following year.

Payment Examples

Example 1: Joining in January (April-September period)

  • New Member Fee: $25.00
  • TI Dues (Jan-Mar, prorated): $30.00
  • TI Dues (Apr-Sep): $60.00
  • Club Dues (annual): $6.00
  • Total for Contractor: $121.00
  • Total for Civil Servant: $6.00 (TI fees paid by GSFC Education Office)

Example 2: Joining in August (October-March period)

  • New Member Fee: $25.00
  • TI Dues (Aug-Sep, prorated): $20.00
  • TI Dues (Oct-Mar): $60.00
  • Club Dues (annual): $6.00
  • Total for Contractor: $111.00
  • Total for Civil Servant: $6.00 (TI fees paid by GSFC Education Office)

Payment Methods

  • Check: Make payable to “Goddard Toastmasters”
  • Civil Servants: Only pay the $6.00 club dues. The GSFC Education Office handles TI dues as an educational expense.
  • Contractors: Pay full amount. Check with your employer’s HR about reimbursement for professional development/training expenses.

Important Notes

  • All dues (club and TI) should be paid by check to “Goddard Toastmasters”
  • The Treasurer or President will deposit payments in the club account
  • For civil servants, the VP Membership will forward information to the GSFC Education Office to process TI dues
  • New members joining mid-year will have dues prorated accordingly

After You Join

What Happens Next?

  1. Application Processing
    • A club officer will enter your information into the Toastmasters International system
    • You’ll receive a welcome email from Toastmasters International with your member number and login credentials
  2. Welcome Materials
    • You’ll receive access to the Pathways learning experience (Toastmasters’ educational program)
    • Download your first speech project, “The Icebreaker,” from www.toastmasters.org/icebreaker
  3. Club Integration
    • VP Membership will add you to the club email list
    • You’ll be added to the club meeting schedule
    • A mentor will be assigned to help guide you through your first speeches
  4. Start Your Journey
    • Attend meetings regularly (2nd and 4th Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.)
    • Begin working through your Pathways projects
    • Participate in Table Topics and meeting roles

Renewing Your Membership

Renewing members pay $126.00 ($6.00 club dues + $120.00 TI annual dues) before September 30 for the period October 1 through September 30 of the following year.

  • Civil Servants: Pay $6.00; GSFC Education Office handles TI dues
  • Contractors: Pay $126.00 total

The VP Membership will notify the GSFC Education Office about renewing civil servants.
