| 13 | Meeting | Bird Photography with Matt Felperin | Emily Beckman | Matt Felperin is a DC-area native, raised in Takoma Park, Maryland, and currently serves as the Roving Naturalist with NOVA Parks. His passion for nature began early—exploring Sligo Creek in search of salamanders and crayfish—and has grown into a lifelong commitment to environmental education and conservation. Matt has extensive experience working across the Chesapeake Bay watershed and credits his time working with naturalist Greg Kearns for sparking his deep appreciation for birds. In his role with NOVA Parks, he leads engaging programs such as bird walks and kayak tours, helping people connect with the natural world. An accomplished wildlife photographer, Matt uses his imagery as a powerful tool to inspire others and foster a deeper connection to nature. He also teaches birding and wildlife photography workshops, sharing his knowledge with students both locally and beyond.
